Fun Facts

History and writing are two of my favorite subjects to study and tutor. My favorite periods in history are Ancient Greece and Rome, the European Renaissance, Military History, and American History. Writing is my other favorite subject and I will hopefully be presenting a paper at the Grad School Conference in 2017. I also love to travel and have been all over the United States. I love my dog and like to hang out with her and go for walks. I am also a big sports fan and like every major sport.

About Me

I am a senior History major at NC State University with a concentration in Secondary School Education. My goal is to receive my Master's Degree in the next 2 years and then become a High School History Teacher.

Experience

I have tutored every year that I have been in college, except for this year so far. My freshman/sophomore years I tutored a high school junior in many different subjects. My sophomore/junior year I worked with Wake Tutors and tutored multiple high school kids, almost exclusively in history. I have also worked with kids on the autism spectrum as well so I have experience in that area.

Approach

So far I have found the best way to tutor is to cater to each kid's strengths. No two kids are alike when it comes to studying or learning. I like to make a plan for the quarter or semester during the first meeting and see what kind of learning style they have so that I can figure out the best way to tutor them. Making the plan for the quarter or semester seems to be one of the most effective things I've done.
