About Me

My name is Heather Cavender, and I am a teacher education student at Eastern Michigan University. I will be student teaching in the Farmington school district in the fall. I have a 2 year old son, Owen, that likes to keep me on my toes, but experiencing his growth and development has been an amazing journey.

I was a nanny for 4 school age children, and often helped with homework and projects.

My approach to detroit">tutoring, is to find what keeps the individual student engaged. There are many different learning styles, and a student may be struggling simply because of the way the material is presented to them. I am also a strong advocate for arts integration, and making real world connections in order to make learning authentic.
