About Me
I'm psychology major at portland-state-university">Portland State University, working towards my Bachelor's of Science degree with a minor in English. I really want to be an educator someday and so I'm looking to get some more teaching experience under my belt. My friend, Mollie Ebner, told me about how much she enjoys that portland">tutoring job she found through Frog, so now I'm hoping a kind a great job too!
Back in 2011, I spent a month and a half teaching English at the Oaxaca Learning Center in Oaxaca, Mexico. It was the greatest experience of my life! I worked with a bunch of amazing kids, and it was absolutely incredible to see and hear them learn English - all through me teaching them. By the end of the 6 weeks, we were having entire conversations in English. I would really love to get the opportunity to teach English again soon.
I'm always encouraging; never discouraging. I feel the best way to really learn how to do something is by teaching someone else. When I tutored in Oaxaca, and had students who were struggling, I would have them teach me Spanish in exchange for me giving them a little extra help in English. These students became my teachers, and I could see the extra confidence that gave them, and this extra confidence drastically improved their English skills. I also employ a lot games when teaching, so the kids stay engage and have fun while learning.
