Fun Facts
I grew up on a ranch with my parents and four siblings in Baja California, Mexico. I love horses, playing volleyball and soccer, and being outside. I've been to India, Romania, Japan, and Taiwan. I love to travel and I have a whole list of places I want to go. One day I will go to Peru and pet a Peruvian llama while admiring the ruins.
About Me
I am a junior Biology and Spanish major at Point Loma Nazarene University. I am a leader for the Mexico partnership program at my university. Once I graduate, I hope to attend Medical School somewhere in California or internationally. I would like to become a family doctor. Eventually I will return to Mexico to open my own clinic.
Experience
In high school I had the opportunity to return to my favorite teachers classroom and help her out. I tutored some of her student in reading and math. I taught a few of the teachers at the same school conversational english for a year. I also helped in the after-school program and taught a group of girls how to play volleyball and the importance of teamwork.
Approach
I have dyslexia so reading and writing have always been difficult for me, but as a child writing and reading a sentence without switching around the letters was impossible. I would read so slowly and make so many spelling errors that for a while refused to do anything. But one of my teachers spent hours with me and encouraged me to keep going. She made it fun to learn. As a tutor, I do my best to make learning fun and encourage a positive attitude and a willingness to encounter new ideas.

Biology I Tutoring
I have taken Cell Biology and Biochemistry (A), Research Methodology (B+), Ecological and Evolutionary Systems (A). My grades for those courses are in parenthesis. I am currently taking Genetics. These are all courses that I need for my major, but they are also courses that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Spanish I Tutoring
I grew up in Mexico so Spanish is my first language. I have taken Intermediate Spanish (A-), Latin American Culture and Civilization (A-), Advanced Conversation and Composition (A-), Current Spanish Linguistics (A). My grades for each course are in parenthesis. I am currently in Advanced Grammar and Reading. I found these courses extremely helpful and fascinating.
