Fun Facts
I have been learning Indian Classical Singing and Dancing for over 15 years and regularly perform at local cultural events and fundraisers. I also enjoy volunteering at high school Speech and Debate tournaments and acting in my free time. At the University of Oregon, I served as President of the Indian Student Organization for the past three years. This position required me to work and communicate effectively with my peers, community members, and local businesses. I was responsible for fundraising thousands of dollars and organizing multiple annual events that regularly drew 400-500 people.
About Me
I am a graduating senior at the Robert D. Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon. I have always been hardworking in my classes, and was a Valedictorian in High School, which helped me attend the UO with a full ride merit scholarship. I am passionate about Human Physiology and plan on applying to Medical Schools.
I have been teaching three elementary and middle school students Indian Classical Singing once a week for the past four years. I was responsible for designing and implementing a lesson plan incorporating theory and technique, and constructing classes in a fun and educational manner. My students have performed in front of hundreds of people at local music festivals - and it has been an incredible experience to watch them grow over the years! Throughout my undergraduate career, I've spent a lot of time collaborating with other students in my classes. Helping each other understand class concepts was an integral part of group projects and study sessions. Therefore, although I have not formally tutored my peers, I feel like I have been doing so informally for my whole life.
As a portland">tutor, my main focus will be to help students achieve and surpass their academic goals. This will include helping students develop effective study skills. I recognize that each student learns best in a different way and at a varying pace, so I would do my best to accommodate those individual needs. I also aim to motivate students and help them feel comfortable, so they won't hesitate to ask questions.
