Fun Facts

I studied Art for two years at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas before realizing that teaching was truly my passion. I love to run, sing, read, draw and paint. I participate in community service programs, such as the Christus summer health program. I am also CPR and first aid certified!

About Me

I have a passion for learning and education! I have just graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Educational Psychology. Upon graduation I will be a Texas certified EC-6 Generalist teacher through the Teacher Education Program at the University of Houston. I have spent the last few years exploring and building my skills in pedagogy. I believe this opportunity would be a great fit for me to expand my knowledge and experience of one-on-one teaching skills, as well as benefit the students that are a part of Frog Tutoring.

I am currently seeking employment in the Houston Independent School District and plan to begin my teaching career this fall. This summer I plan to tutor along with my other part-time job at Soccer Shots, coaching soccer for preschoolers. I have worked with students from ages Pre-k through 6th grade in a school environment. This past year I have been student teaching in kindergarten at Travis Elementary School in HISD, fulfilling all of the duties of a full time teacher. I experienced valuable one-on-one time with students, specifically in the areas of reading and math. Before that, I student taught part-time at KIPP Intrepid and KIPP Explore in 1st and 5th grade, where I was able to conduct lessons and mentor students in the areas of math, reading, and science. While fulfilling this field experience, I also worked as an assistant teacher at a local preschool, Esperanza School.

I believe every child can learn. The first and most important step in helping someone learn is to understand them as an individual and build a relationship of mutual trust and respect. Once this relationship has been established, the mentor can get to know the student's learning style and exactly what skill or concept is challenging for them. I believe in using a scaffolding approach to tackling difficult concepts, as well as confidence-building exercises and positive reinforcement.
