Fun Facts
Ice skating is an activity I love to do whenever I get a chance. I also love competitive ice skating. I enjoy watching how the sport gets more and more challenging with participants demonstrating new skills and techniques every ice skating season. Other activities I enjoy are singing, dancing, and bike riding, all of which I wish I could get to do more often than I do.
About Me
I am a education/ohio/cleveland">Special Education Teacher at a public school. I have a Bachelor's or Science Degree In Education (Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist) and a Master's of Science degree In Education (Curriculum & Instruction in Literacy/Reading. Many students struggle with reading and math and lose confidence in themselves when they fall behind in school. I make it my duty to teach these students the skills and strategies they need to be successful life-long learners.
Experience
I have over six years experience as a tutor for a well know tutoring service, and also privately. I also have four years of classroom experience as a education/ohio/cleveland">Special Education Teacher. I have specialized training in teaching math and reading using evidenced and researched-based methods that have been proven successful with numerous students.
Approach
I believe that every students is capable of success. I make sure to instill this belief in all of my students by using their strengths and learning style to build their academic skills. I implement an instructional plan that is individualized to fit my student's academic needs. The methods I use to deliver instruction allows my students to generalize these skills across content areas.

MastersReading Comprehension Tutoring
Comprehending text can be very difficult for some students. I provide students with instruction that will improve their understanding of various text. I build student's vocabulary knowledge. I use graphic and semantic organizers to help make information understandable. I teach visualization and summarizing skills as a way to also improve understanding of information, as well as various other strategies.
English Tutoring
I currently teach Special Education ELA classes. What I do in my classroom is develop a foundation of skills that my students lack when it comes to reading and ELA knowledge and skills. I also incorporate a variety of teaching techniques into my instruction that challenges my students to use higher order thinking skills required to be successful in English Language Arts.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I provide homework support to students by first building rapport and establishing a level of trust. I also make clear the expectations. I then provide students with the assistance they need to be successful in starting and/or completing homework assignments.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I teach Math to special education students. I provide students with instruction that builds upon their strengths and minimizes their weaknesses. I teach students skills and strategies that improve their math outcomes.
Social Studies Tutoring
In teaching students social studies I believe in helping students to understand the ideas and concepts related to being a good citizen, and showing them how this relates to them. I teach students how to read and analyze information that important to know and understand.
Writing Tutoring
Writing is an area where many students struggle. In providing writing instruction, I teach students to utilize the strategies that will organize their thoughts and effectively communicate their ideas in written form. I teach students that writing has a process and I teach them the process and how to utilize it to produce quality writing pieces.
