I've recently started collecting periodic table paraphernalia. I currently have a periodic table cup, a periodic table place mat, and a stuffed animal chemistry mole. I also love making chemistry jokes!

About Me

I'm a recent graduate from UMKC. Now that I have my chemistry major, my goal is earn my teaching certification so I can teach high school chemistry. I love all things chemistry, and I have a passion for teaching.

I tutored for the student athlete services at my college in both chemistry and mathematics. I also taught violin lessons to beginning level students. Their ages ranged from 7 years old to 14 years old.

My tutoring approach for both chemistry and math is to try to help students become better critical thinkers. Because chemistry and math both build on beginning material, its essential for students wishing to do well in the subject to learn how to use their knowledge of chemistry or math and apply it in various ways. One way I usually try to help with the critical thinking process is by working out examples and going through a problem step by step. Then, I will have the student try to work out a similar example by themselves. My goal as a tutor is to try to help a student grow as a self-sufficient learner, and to offer help in a way that still requires the student to think about the subject.
