About Me

I currently hold various paid tutoring positions in the library of my school, St. Mary's University. These include Writing Center tutor, Cell Biology tutor, Organic Chemistry I and II PLTL leader, Genetic Principles tutor, and General Biology I and II for Majors tutor. I have a total of two years formal tutoring experience with these subjects, averaging about ten hours a week while school is in session. My desire is to take the next step and work for a company such as this one with the common goal of educating my fellow citizens about critical thinking, humanities, and the science alike and encouraging humanity forward by informing and inspiring our fellow human beings.

My main wish in life is to live a well-rounded existence while achieving the academic and intellectual milestones I set for myself. I love to work out, play racquetball, hang out with my friends, and just generally explore what it means to be human on as many levels as I can. Social, athletic, and intellectual fulfillment are daily driving forces for me. As blessed as I have been to indulge in my chosen field of study, I long to pass on my knowledge and experiences to others with similar interests and ambitions. I hope to one day become an orthopedic surgeon while paying due attention to everything I feel deserves my time and energy: family, friends, science, humanities, and physical fitness.

In my experience, different subjects can be taught different ways and therefore may require unique approaches for a complete, fundamental education.
I find that my science students usually perform best when they are immersed in the language and ideas of the topic at hand. Giving them regular quizzes and engaging them in discussion about topics puts them in a position where actively thinking and speculating in their own words about a given topic, making for a more personal experience. Repetition is also helpful for assisting learning when students are dealing with novel ideas and foreign notions.
