About Me
I am 21 years old and I have known I wanted to be a teacher since I was 6! Teaching really is my passion and I enjoy every minute of it. When I am not teaching I love to do photography, outdoor activities, and arts & crafts. I love talking to people and getting to know new faces. The compliment I get most often is that I am very natural with children and I truly have a bone in my body built for teaching. I like to work hard and keep things interesting. I never believe that learning should be sitting and listening to a lecture. Learning involves all of your senses and all types of learning styles. I make sure to include kinesthetic, auditory, visual, linguistic, logical, and all types of learning in every lesson to keep the brain thinking and learning, while having fun!
I have worked at a day care for the past year, being in charge of the after-school program. I taught CCD at my local church for 3 summers consecutively. I also will be completing my Early Childhood/education/rhode-island/providence">Special Education degree this fall, as it is my last semester student teaching. I have worked in many different schools with many different children throughout my college experience, providence">tutoring and teaching.
I believe that learning is based on every students individual needs. It may take a few tries before you realize what works best with a student. Learning should include all styles of hands-on, visual, listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities. I also truly believe that every student learns at their own rate. You cannot push a student to learn something he/she is just not ready to learn. All learning will come with time, practice, and consistency.
