Fun Facts
I am from Honolulu, Hawaii but I do not surf! I am the youngest child in my family, but my dad considers me the middle child since we got our darling dachshund pup. I enjoy poetry, coffee, hiking, and soaking up the sunshine (whenever it's around!).
About Me
I am a senior at Seattle University’s School of Science and Engineering studying General Science with a Pre-Professional Specialization. I have taken several upper division science courses including General Chemistry, General Biology, General Physics, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, to name a few. I was tutored as an elementary school student and benefitted from the one-on-one attention and extra time spent on subjects that were difficult for me.
Experience
I work with students at Garfield High School as a classroom volunteer, helping students to understand science concepts in laboratory environments. The ultimate goal of my presence is to get students to not only learn science, but deeply understand its importance in everyday life. Learning to me is not memorization, it's about understanding concepts.
Approach
I was tutored as an elementary student, which helped me to solidify grades and get me into a prestigious school for middle school and high school. I wish I continued being tutored through middle school and high school because I could have learned more and gotten into an even better college. As a tutor, I hope to give my students the knowledge they deserve and the push they need to become the best they can both in and out of the classroom.

General Science
Chemistry I Tutoring
B+ (Lecture and Lab). I focused on lectures and was communicative with professor. Big concepts were a must to understand and solidify for future chemistry courses.
Chemistry II Tutoring
B (Lecture and Lab). Orbitals and arrangement of atoms were important in this course. I taught other students in study groups on concepts they did not understand.
Japanese Tutoring
Grade earned: A. I have a background in 5 years of High School Japanese. I can teach basic levels of Japanese and some Kanji as well as pronunciation.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I was tutored when I was younger, and I cannot stress enough that homework is an integral part of one's grade. Doing homework is a chore to a high school student, but the homework helps to solidify information as well as cushion's students grades.
Science Tutoring
I have taken several upper division biology courses including General Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Neurobiology to name a few. I have also taken General Physics, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. I am confident in my ability to teach students about science.

I have taken a college english course, ethics and humanities that built my confidence in reading comprehension and writing. I hope to help students become confident in their reading and writing abilities.

Grade earned: B+. Microbiology is fantastic! You learn that the human microbiome is composed of millions of bacteria. There are in fact more bacteria on your body than there are cells in your body. How strange!
