Fun Facts

I was born in Kenya and moved to america when I was 2!I love reading and writing when i have the time! I really love traveling and I hope to one day travel the world and take pictures! I'm teaching myself to play guitar and piano!

About Me

My name is Chantal Muriithi. I am originally from Kenya! I really love helping people, especially through teaching. I feel like that's how I can help people the most. I graduated , Cum Laude, in psychology at UTSA with a minor in criminal justice in hopes of becoming a child advocate. I really love children and being able help them learn! I believe children are our future and need to be able to develop normally.

I worked as a supplemental instructor at my university for 2 years. A supplemental instructor is someone who has already taken a specific class, preformed well and comes back to help students who are in the class. We come up with lesson plans and activities to help further their learning. I also taught preschool at Concordia child center for a year.

I like to implement a lot of the Psychology I have learned over the course of my years at UTSA. I like to use a lot of repetition and recall. I use games to also help further learning. If they can apply what they learned into the game, it can help them remember better. Helping students learn in a fun way makes it easier for them to understand in a unique way.

Experience

I was a tutor at UTSA for 3 years, while I was in college. I taught pre K for a year as well as worked at a foster care agency training parents for a year and as half. I am currently a third year, middle school teacher. I am certified in all core subjects 4th-8th grade.

Approach

My main approach is to find what the child's strength is and use their strengths to enhance their weak areas. I have knowledge and child develop and the uniqueness of how people learn. The best way to teach a child is find what they are interested in and how they learn best and combine them.
