Fun Facts

When I am with my brother, we jam hard on our guitars like rockstars. During my down time I enjoy reading. I am always looking for book recommendations. Sometimes I crochet blankets and stuffed animals to donated to local charities. In between classes I am found solving a rubix cube or a Sudoku puzzle.

About Me

My family immigrated to the US from Philippines when I was four years old. I am a first generation college student attending Virginia Commonwealth University studying math and physics. This year I participated a mathematical modeling competition where my team received the Honorable Mention Award. My goal is to obtain my Ph. D mathematics to be a professor. I want to help others enjoy learning

Experience

Currently I am a teacher's assistant for college level algebra. Prior to being a teacher's assistant, I worked as a math and Spanish tutor for three years. In Spanish I tutored basic grammar and vocabulary. In mathematics I tutored arithmetic up to discrete mathematics. Starting next semester I will tutoring middle schoolers in math.

Approach

My philosophy is to understand the student's learning style in order to maintain their motivation to succeed. I will listen to the student's concerns and interests. This way I can effectively accommodate to the student's needs. Through honest feedback and patience I will guide the student through their academic journey. I will cheer on my students during their good and bad days. In the end, I want to leave my students with a positive attitude that they can achieve anything!
