Fun Facts

I love history! When I was in high school, I never knew how interesting and fun history could be! Then when I got to college, I started researching hands-on topics, where I would need to go visit an old building, or leaf through an old book from the 1700s. Now, in my day to day life, I am constantly seeking out pieces of history! I once found a postcard from the 1890s, that a daughter wrote to her mother...it was preserved in an old book I was reading---so cool!!

About Me

I am a middle school Social Studies teacher for Guilford County. I love learning and teaching! I am very passionate about education, and I have so much fun helping others find that passion! In college, I majored in history and economics, and so subjects in those fields are my favorite, but I also have a great love for math and science!

Experience

All throughout college, I participated in a volunteer tutoring program, where I tutored math and English for underprivileged youth. It was a life-changing experience, and it is what encouraged me to seek out an education position following my graduation.

Approach

I had a really hard time focusing on and being interested in school work in middle and high school. It was not until a few really invested teachers made the material relevant to me that I started loving school. Now that I am a teacher, that is the same approach that I take with my students. I find how to make the material interesting to them...that way they become more invested in doing well, and they develop a life-long love of learning!
