Fun Facts

I absolutely love traveling and writing. Fortunately, my studies have created many opportunities for travel. In the Fall of 2012, I spent a semester studying in India and Nepal. My independent research project on the forms and functions of poetry written by Tibetans in exile was published online at: http://digitalcollections.sit.edu/isp_collection/1452/. I have also had my poetry published by Mad Gleam Press in New York City.

About Me

I graduated magna cum laude from the washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University majoring in Anthropology and minoring in English/Creative Writing. I went on to continue my graduate studies in ethnography at the University of New Mexico. and to eventually apply for research grants to pursue my own projects in various countries. I hope to be able to use my studies and travel opportunities to help give people opportunities to learn, grow, create and positively influence their environment.






Experience

My area of expertise is writing, especially research papers, literary analyses, scientific writing, and genres within the social sciences as well as professional fields of writing. I have been a teaching assistant at the University of New Mexico and have tutored students in writing at the washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University. Additionally, I was a founding member of Thomas A. Edison High School's Writing Center where I also tutored writing for SAT timed writing and college essays.

Approach

As a washington-dc">tutor, I am able to diffuse anxiety and engage students in the process of learning by altering activities, exercises and study habits towards the student’s learning style and interests, whether this be by visual aids or pneumonic devices. As a mentor I aim to help foster the self-motivation students need in order to engage, improve and excel in their studies. I am committed to standing beside students to help give them the tools and the opportunities they need to be successful.
