Fun Facts
You will usually catch me outdoors in my free time--hiking, biking (I prefer road bike), playing frisbee, snowboarding (working on halfpipes and getting over my fear of jumps this season), or boogie-boarding. I love watching The Voice when people are so authentically themselves. I love traveling and learning about other cultures--I have been to 32 countries (so far) and all 50 states (I made it to the last one last summer)! And I have a yellow labrador/german shepherd dog and 2 cats.
About Me
I got a good foundational business degree from a private university in the midwest, after excelling in math and science in high school. I graduated and continued to about business in a field that was fun and interesting--movies! I ran my own location, worked in marketing and IT and learned all aspects of business over the past 25 years. My approach has always been to teach and help co-workers and employees learn and grow. I have owned my own company, and always been a problem-solver.
Experience
In college, I taught short course modules to 5th and 6th grades. Later in college, I would informally help other students in areas I was good at. And as a business professional, my approach has been to teach my employees and others about what they both needed and wanted to learn, and help them grow into what they aspire to. As my business career becomes less rewarding as it used to be, I tutor students to help them break through barriers that prevent them from reaching who they want to become
Approach
Many students believe they will never be good at something, or lack the confidence to try. I always connect students back to what they are first good at, then we walk forward from there, to maintain confidence. I have a knack for simplifying complexity that makes the subject or problem more approachable. And I always connect the coursework to real world ways they might apply it during their dream-career. I am also honest and transparent about my own weaknesses. And am always open for questions.

Elementary Statistics Tutoring
Math has come easy to me since elementary school through college. Nearly straight A's through all levels. It is the concepts that once learned can make learning and understanding easier at future levels and the application of math. Yes, you will use statistics regularly in your life.
