Fun Facts
Music is one of my oldest passions, and over the years, I've taught myself how to play guitar, piano, bass guitar, banjo, and even become a confident singer! I'm also an amateur poet, and a lover of reading the classics. Additionally, I love travelling on my own, and making every day an adventure. I'm an avid Jeopardy fan, and most nights at 7:30 PM, I'll be found in my apartment's living room, yelling answers at my television. Most of all, I've loved learning ever since I can remember.
About Me
I am a senior Physics major at Boston College. I am the Co-President of Music of a co-ed acappella group, The Common Tones of Boston College. I am also the undergraduate liaison to the teaching committee for the Physics department at Boston College, providing evaluative feedback on the progress of undergraduate courses. My sophomore year I was awarded the prestigious Sophomore Scholar award for being in the top 5% of my class. I plan on applying to and attending law school for public service.
Experience
In addition to helping my friends any chance I get with their Latin, Mathematics, Physics, and Writing assignments, I have been a volunteer tutor for roughly three years of my collegiate career. I tutored elementary and middle schools students at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in the Bronx for a semester during my freshman year, and went on to tutor elementary school students at Jackson Mann K-8 School in Brighton during my junior year. I love helping others truly understand what they learn.
Approach
As a student, I always struggled with mathematics and science into high school. It seemed too abstract, and I did not know how to study for exams since I could not grasp the material. Luckily, my junior year calculus teacher was able to teach me to practice patience in my studies, and not to give up on understanding something just because it is difficult. I wish to impart my attitude of patience and reward through persistence to all of my students, knowing it will help them in the long run!

College Algebra Tutoring
In addition to using advanced algebraic methods in every mathematics and physics class I have taken in my collegiate career, I have also studied abstract algebra, which provided me with the structure necessary to seeing algebra as a unified topic. I tutor many friends and family members in the basics of algebra (finding roots, factoring, equation solving, etc) and have been told that I provide a more clear presentation of the material than any other instructor they were taught by. Algebra is the language of calculus, and calculus is the language of physics, all three of which are my specialty.

Pre Calculus Tutoring
I use the topics covered in Pre Calculus everyday of the week, as it is the prerequisite knowledge for every subsequent mathematics and physics course I have taken in college. Pre Calculus is a rich topic that I feel I have a complete mastery in ever since I aced the course in high school. Further, I have had continual experience helping my peers understand the more difficult concepts in Pre Calculus, and feel even more confident in my current abilities to make clear any confusion.
Trigonometry Tutoring
Trigonometry is an often challenging subject, but my past tutoring experience and continual use of the subject's topics has shown me that there are many ways of explaining the subject to students. I have used Trigonometry in every physics class I have ever taken in college, and I have a handful of practical examples that make understanding the subject simpler. Further, I have tutored many friends and relatives in the subject, and I have been told that my explanations grounded in example always make more sense than the abstract explanations they are used to in class.

Homework Coach Tutoring
Homework, often one of the more difficult parts of being a student, requires a little discipline, and the right perspective. My experiences in high school and college have taught me how to properly budget my time when studying, and when to reward myself for working hard. I believe that with the correct amount of encouragement and confidence, homework can become less of task, and more of an enriching activity for any kind of student.
Math Tutoring
As a physics major, I use every type of mathematics I have ever learned in my discipline daily. Mathematics is a subject that has many different, valid approaches to its understanding. I pride myself in my abilities to think about mathematics in many different ways, and when working with struggling students, finding the correct approach for them. Because of my real world use of mathematics, I frequently use examples to teach, which I find helps retain interest and cement the knowledge in a student's understanding.

As a physics major, science pervades all areas of my life and thought. I have been educated in how to make sense of complicated ideas and topics, as well as how to demonstrate the real life aspects of science all around me. I frequently tutor my little brother in his science courses, and find it fun to figure out how to explain real life phenomena, breaking it down into its most fundamental parts, and building understanding from its foundations.
