About Me

Hi! My name is Laura Posluszny, and I am a sophomore nursing major, spanish for the health professions minor at TCU. I am on the 4.5 year plan and have completed the following pre-req courses with an A: survey of nursing, psychology, elementary statistics, nutrition, and microbiology. I am currently in Anatomy making an A. As far as nursing majors go, I'm on the side of those who enjoy the science/biology courses over the social/psychology courses, therefore I am focusing my tutoring on microbiology, nutrition, and A&P. Although if scheduling allows, I'll be happy to tutor in other nursing subjects as well.

I have a strong background in biology not only because of my freshman year at TCU, but also from high school. I took AP Biology my senior year and earned a 5 on the test-credit for both Biology 1 & 2 at TCU (the courses pre-med students take). I brought in over 40 hours from high school AP/CLEP credit: U.S. History, German, Biology, Macroeconomics, Calculus BC, English Literature, English Language, World History, and Sociology.

I decided to join the frog tutoring team because I informally tutored microbiology last year and found it rewarding, fun, and effective. I like to empower the student, encourage him or her, and try out different study techniques to discover the best approach for each particular student. Memorization is key to so many of these classes and to acing tests, but the information will be truly useful (and worth the thousands of dollars you're paying to learn it) only if it lasts longer than test day. It is my goal that the student not only memorizes information to make good grades, but really understands the concepts so he or she can apply them in real life.
