Fun Facts
I am actually on the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer team here at UTSA. I’ve been playing soccer since I was five years old after a not-so-pretty trial run in little league T-Ball. I honestly cannot imagine doing anything else!
About Me
I am a freshman (sophomore by credit) in the Honor’s College at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I am a biomedical engineering major with a concentration in bio-mechanics and a minor in mathematics. I have a 3.84 cumulative GPA and a 4.0 major-specific GPA. After my undergraduate degree, I want to go into research and eventually earn my PhD. As a career, I hope to make prosthetics for Paralympic athletes to be able to keep with my athletic background.
Experience
Being a part of the National Honor Society in high school, I had the opportunity to work with students at the local elementary school to help third graders prepare for their first standardized test. I have also worked with many middle school and high school students, mostly in math and science. I will always do my best to adapt to the student’s learning style and teach the material with their best interest in mind. Every student is different, and that makes tutoring worthwhile.
Approach
I work through positive reinforcement. I have been on the receiving end of a teacher who degraded my lack of understanding and made me feel incapable. Being a tutor, I hope to unlock the student's self-confidence in academia. When I teach, I teach a student to understand the material and why it works the way it does, rather than just rote memorization. I have always been passionate about the natural sciences and I hope to impart that passion onto a student of mine.
