Biology I Tutoring

I am a biology major, and earned an A+ in Experimental Biology, A in Cell Biology, A in Nuclear Transport A in Principles of Biology I, and A- in Biological Chemistry. In studying for these courses I would prepare study guides and/or have group study sessions which greatly helped my studying. Prior to my college level courses, I also self-studied to take the AP Biology exam for which I received a score of 4.

Spanish I Tutoring

I have studied Spanish up to the college level, earning an A+ in Spanish 201 and an A in Spanish 102, and am currently taking Spanish 202. I am passionate about learning and using new languages, and practice speaking regularly. Techniques I've used to learn Spanish and other languages will be utilized.

Study Skills Tutoring

I have self-studied for the SAT (for which I scored a 740 in Math, 700 in Writing, and 630 in Critical Reading using the scoring system of 2013), and AP Biology exam (scored a 4 without taking the course). Along with studying for college courses alongside work, internships, and volunteering, I've developed strategies to maximize efficiency of study time as well as methods to understand underlying concepts which I am eager to share with my students.

Algebra Tutoring

During my freshman year in high school, I earned a 94 in Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry without having taken Algebra or Geometry prior. This was an intense learning experience, but one that made me retain the material better. I look forward to sharing study skills and methods I learned from this class and experience.

Homework Coach Tutoring

Homework. The load high-schoolers are dealt can often be staggering. Having gone through senior year, balancing homework with extracurriculars, test prep, and college prep, and ensuring my work was still on time and well, I can both understand context as well as provide an efficient plan of action.

In high school, I earned a 99 in Geometry, 96 in Pre-calculus, and 94 in Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry. During my senior year I took college Calculus I and Calculus II courses, earning an A and A+. I enjoy solving problems using math and hope to relay this to my students.

SAT Math Tutoring

I scored a 740 on the SAT Math section, and was Head Coach for tutoring SAT Math at Let's Get Ready. Thus, I have experience in both self-studying for this test, as well as teaching it through lesson plans I prepared and engaging students in the subject. I also scored a 720 in the Math Level 2 SAT Subject Test.

SAT Verbal/Writing Tutoring

I scored a 700 on the SAT Writing section, and a 630 on the Critical Reading section. Having been Head Coach for tutoring SAT Math at Let's Get Ready, I have experience in teaching SAT material through lesson plans I prepared, and engaging students in the subject.

Science Tutoring

I earned an 100 in Living Environment, 100 in Chemistry, 100 in Physics, and earned an A in a college Physics course I took during my senior year. Science is near and dear to me, and has long been a favorite subject. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and strategies for mastering the material.

I scored a 720 on the Math 2 SAT Subject test, and was a Head Math Coach for SAT Math tutoring. I took advanced math courses in high school and calculus courses in college, all of which I earned grades in the A range. I enjoy using algebra to solve problems by seeing its utility as a tool rather than a rule.

English Tutoring

I earned an A+ in a Expository Writing college course, and an A in Introduction to Writing About Literature, and have taken various writing intensive courses. I am an avid reader and enjoy reviewing and improving writing pieces.

Arts Tutoring

I have taken drawing classes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where I developed my interest in portraiture drawing, a hobby I continue to practice. I earned a 99, 100, and 100 in my high school art courses, where I had made a diverse collection of art pieces, ranging from 2D portraits to a 3D life-size horse tape sculpture to an award-winning SketchUp design for a school terrace.

I earned an A+ in an Introduction to Applied Statistics college course, and have experience using statistics for research purposes as well. I look forward to sharing this knowledge.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

I have earned an A+ and A in my college English courses, scored in the 88th percentile of the Verbal Reasoning section on the GRE exam, and scored a 630 in the Critical Reading section of the SAT. Furthermore, I am well versed in reading and explaining scientific articles. I am an avid reader and look forward to the opportunity to share this enthusiasm through effective strategies.

Writing Tutoring

I earned an A+ in a Expository Writing college course, and an A in Introduction to Writing About Literature, and have taken various writing intensive courses. Additionally, I scored a 700 on the SAT Writing section. I have also written research course papers and drafted a manuscript, and enjoy discussing ways to improve writing style and content.

Regents Tutoring

I scored a 100 in Spanish, 99 in ELA, 99 in US History, 97 in Living Environment, 97 in Global History, 96 in Physical Chemistry, 95 in Trigonometry, 93 in Geometry, 93 in Algebra, and 92 in Physics. Much of my success with Regents is attributable to great teachers. I can offer lessons learned from these experiences in a personalized, efficient manner that builds from areas needing the most work.
