Fun Facts
I love to travel. It is by far one of my favorite things to do when I can close the books for an extended period of time. Being half Japanese, I visit Japan almost every other year to visit family but, I've made it my mission to explore other countries to take in as much of their culture (and food) as I can. If I'm not traveling by plane, I'm road tripping or camping to get some quality Vitamin D. I also love listening to music, reading, and playing with my cat and dog.
About Me
I am a recent graduate of the University of Arizona, earning my Bachelors of Science in Health Science with an emphasis in Physiology. Before attending UofA, I transferred from a community college leaving with honors under the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Currently, I work at a research lab at the UofA while taking a year of opportunity before applying to medical school with an interest in preventative medicine and care.
Experience
As a member of Phi Theta Kappa at the community college level, earning a 4.0 upon transfer, I often took the lead in group tutoring sessions. I not only lead the study groups but set up individual times with each student to ensure they were grasping the concepts being covered. While at UofA, I was a TA for immune physiology and current topics in physiology. Nothing is more rewarding than helping someone understand the material and concepts, and I can't wait to help even more people.
Approach
It has been a firm belief of mine that knowledge is built from the ground up. In order to learn a difficult concept, we have to master the basics, I also believe everyone learns concepts differently, being able to understand how a student learns is the key to success. I believe each student has the ability to learn complex concepts, they merely need someone in their corner willing to explain things in a way that makes sense to them.
