I love baseball, and want to write baseball statistics for a career. I also happen to love cooking. Growing up in Florida, one of my favorite things in the world is Disney. I have spent far too much time around Disney World and love everything about the company and experience it provides.

About Me

My name is Jimmy Sweeney, and I will be a junior at TCU. I am originally from Sarasota, FL, but I actually dislike the beach. I love playing and watching sports, and work on the Field Crew for TCU's baseball team. I spent this past summer working at the Pine Cove Ranch Camp, and love getting to hang out with students.

In high school, I spent about ten hours a week tutoring an 8th and 6th grader in their respective subjects. It was a fairly intensive process, not just working through their homework, but actually making sure they understand the information. I also was involved in a program tutoring fellow high school students in subjects that I had excelled in. I would tutor 2-3 students at least once a week.

I think that tutoring can be much more than just homework help. It provides an opportunity for me to get to know a student, understand their learning habits, and effectively help them learn. More so, it gives me an opportunity to be somebody who the student can trust, and allows them to feel comfortable learning from somebody more personal than a teacher may be. My approach is to establish myself as a friend, then delve into the subject at hand, finding weak areas of understanding and helping the student then master those subjects.
