Fun Facts
I train horses, start, and show horses. I`ve been ridding since I was nine years only and I try to spend at least a couple hours at the barn every day. It`s really important to me. I love comic books, and have dozens of them posted on my walls. I`m the inheritor of a proud tradition, bot my parents and all my uncles and aunts are engineers. When I graduate I`ll be the fourth of my cousins to follow in our family`s foot steps.
About Me
Hello, my name is Ariana Canfield, I`m a junior in material science and PPEL at the U of A. After graduation I intend to go into research creating new solvents for mineral extraction, I interned with a local mineral processing lab last summer and really enjoyed it. I haven`t decided if I want to pursue a masters degree yet.
Experience
I`ve been an honors student all my life, I graduated high school with enough AP credit that I only needed to take one gen ed. I was also a student instructor for my high school AP chemistry and AP US history classes. In these classes I reviewed the work of a handful of students and insured they were making satisfactory progress. I also run ridding lessons which require that I work one on one with a student, make choices to encourage long term development and assign them tasks to work on alone.
Approach
I think exploration, and preparation are key to effective learning. When approaching a new type of problem I encourage students to describe how they instinctively approach it, and then talk to them about the strengths and weaknesses of that approach. Most problems in math, science, and economics are really just logic puzzles, and thinking of them encourages honest exploration witch makes learning fun, and helps to cement concepts.

OtherChemistry I Tutoring
I received an a in the U of A`s chem 151 class. I really loved this class and led a small study group. My degree is intimately connected to chemistry, especially because I intend to go into mineral processing via solvents.

I have taken all of the math classes required for an engineer at the U of A. I received an A in calculus 1, and enjoyed in immensely. Because I`ve taken so many math classes after this I`ve internalized the concepts learned in this class to be used in more complicated problems.

I have taken not only basic economics classes but more involved economics classes, and have received A`s in all of them. I got a 5 on both the macro and micro economics classes.
Math Tutoring
I`ve completed all the U of A`s math classes required for engineers. Calculus 1, calculus 2, vector calculus, and differential equations.

took U of A`s basic mechanics for engineer`s class as well as their introductory civil engineering classes. Received A`s in all three

Algebra Tutoring
I`m an engineering student at the U of A, and have used my deep and internalized knowledge of algebra to solve a myriad of complicated problems.
AP History Tutoring
I was a student instructor in my high school`s AP US history class. I received a 5 on the AP US history test and the AP European history test.
AP Physics Tutoring
I`ve taken and done well in college physics classes ( received an A s in basics mechanics and a B in electricity and magnetism) and applied physics concepts to civil engineering classes witch I got A`s in as well.
Chemistry Tutoring
I was an SI for my AP chemistry class in high school and have taken a year of college chemistry. I also applied concepts from chemistry to gold leaching in my internship.

Nothing comes more naturally to me than economics, my PPEL degree in centered around it. I received a 5 on both the AP micro and Macro exams, I`ve applied the concepts learned in these classes to college level work and regularly help friends with economic concepts.
