Fun Facts
I love the outdoors and have an active mind. You will have no trouble finding me outside doing anything and everything from skiing or mountain biking, to trail running rain or shine! I also love learning, traveling and trying new types of ethnically diverse foods, my current favorite is Thai! But above all, someday I hope to practice medicine in pediatric oncology. I place the highest value on bringing a smile to the face of others.
About Me
I am a thriving sophomore, nursing/pre-medical student at the University of Portland in Portland, OR. I hope to graduate in 2019 with my BSN, and work as a registered nurse for a few years in communities that offer suboptimal medical attention and leave a positive mark. Shortly after I hope to attending medical school at the University of California Los Angeles. Although my long term goal is to become a pediatric oncologist, my highest priority is to provide professional care for others.
Experience
As a physiology lab assistant, I am able to provide hands on guidance to biology and nursing students in the process of learning the basic functions of the human body. This also parallels outside of the lab, in helping others grasp the tricky concepts taught in each lecture. Apart from formal employment, I find joy in lending a hand down to those who come after me, and offering help with any course material they may be struggling with. I jump at every opportunity to do so!
Approach
It is quite obvious that some people have adversely apt to learning new materials and learning styles vary person to person, but I have found that in science courses such as human physiology, anatomy, and all different types of biology it is extremely helpful for myself and others to have diagrams and short video clips to refer to. However, above all being encouraging and patient is a major component of preparing students for a future of success!

Biology I Tutoring
Although not all universities offer the same biology courses and some include certain bits of information in one course, while at another university that same topic may be included in a different course, I have taken a broad range of biology courses and feel I am well prepared to help guide students in their learning process through all subjects in Biology 1.
Biology II Tutoring
After loving and excelling through the following courses; Introduction to Biology, Microbiology, and Organismal and Population Biology, I feel that I am well suited to help students even of the same age as I, to learn and excel through these types of courses. Some of these courses I have taken more recently, which lends ease to teaching the information.
Nursing Tutoring
Above all I am a nurse, and I love all things nursing from the introductory courses to the more advanced psychology behind caring, history of nursing, proper nutrition and life processes. I have excelled in all of my nursing courses and thoroughly enjoyed each and every one, and because of this I feel that I am more than prepared to provide tutoring in nursing courses. I am a firm believer that the more you love something the more likely you are to master it!
Biology Tutoring
I have taken two high school level biology courses and three college level biology courses, and loved and excelled through them all. These courses have left me with a broad range of scientific knowledge in the field of biology and enable me to offer supplemental help to students currently taking high school biology.
Chemistry Tutoring
Due to my strong background in sciences, including chemistry, I am well prepared to support students who struggle in high school chemistry, and even give pointers on what is important to retain for college chemistry courses. I initially struggled in this course prior to learning the skills necessary to succeed in chemistry. I am a firm believer and do not underestimate the power of a strong work ethic and practice to learn this material.
Science Tutoring
I am well versed in many science courses and prepared to provide supplemental help in all introductory science courses, including high school. My strong science background has provided me with the necessary information to aid students in their path to success in general high school science courses.
Guitar Tutoring
I have been playing the guitar for a little over 6 years. For a period of time I played in the band for my church back home, and currently I give guitar lessons as a side job and to spread the love for music. However, in this case I am fully capable of offering supplemental aid in guitar courses.
