Fun Facts

When I'm not studying hard or working, I spend time pursuing my extracurricular passions: soccer, music, and French film and literature. I played soccer for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for a semester and I still try to play once in a while! When I'm feeling less active, I spend time finding new music and movies and reading, especially French literature.

About Me

I am a senior International Business and French double major at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have been studying French since the age of 8 and have lived in France for a cumulative five weeks during two separate Study Abroad programs. I hope to return to France after graduation to teach English with the eventual goal of becoming a Foreign Language Instructor for the CIA.

Experience

I have a cumulative GPA of 3.43 and am pursuing undergraduate degrees in both International Business and French. In addition to my French coursework, I also was a teaching intern at the Waddell Language Institute in Charlotte. I was responsible for individual and group instruction activities, planning lessons, and grading assignments for the French immersion program there. I have also spent 5 weeks total studying abroad in France which has improved my language skills and cultural understanding.

Approach

I have studied French from the age of 8, and I have found that personalized instruction can make a real difference compared to only being taught in a large classroom setting. When working for the Waddell Language Institute, I specialized in improving students' vocabulary test scores who were struggling. Using a combination of interactive games, drawings, and other methods, I was able to help them make a deeper, more personal connection to the word, assuring it stuck with them forever.
