Fun Facts

In addition to teaching students math and science, I also love to teach athletes my secondary passion which is cheerleading! I was a competitive cheerleader beginning in sixth grade and finishing my senior year in college. Cheerleading is also how I met my husband, who is coincidentally the head football coach. I also love music, even though my singing is not on key I will still belt the words out whenever a good song comes on the radio. Lastly, I'm a big Harry Potter Fan. Go Griffyndor!

About Me

I graduated from both high school and college in the top 20 of my class of over 400. Both my undergraduate degree in Biology and masters degree in Special Education are from Assumption College. I have been working in public schools since 2009 in a variety of capacities, substitute(1 year), elementary instructional aide(1 year), middle school classroom teacher(5 years), and currently am working as an instructional aide in an elementary school while raising my son who just turned 1!

Experience

As an aide my focus is working with small groups and one on one with students needing support in math, which I feel is just like small tutoring sessions. I also was the lead teacher for the Homework Workshop that was created in the middle school I worked in for three years. I assisted students with prioritizing and planning how to accomplish their homework assignments in order to get them completed on time. I would also support them across all subject areas while working on their assignments.

Approach

As much as I enjoy teaching to a classroom full of students, I find that I truly thrive while working with small groups or one on one. I am very patient, kind, caring and encouraging with all of the students I work with. I want to make sure that the students understand that the reason I'm there is to help them succeed because that is what I find most rewarding about working with them. I hope to help the students achieve a deeper undeestanding of their material so their recall lasts mich longer.
