Fun Facts

The one thing that people notice about me is that I have a passion for writing. So far I have written five books of various kinds and published them on Amazon. When I teach my students, I try to be creative in my approach to learning. There have been times that I have used puppets and even used YouTube videos to better help my students learn. I will do anything and everything in order to help my students succeed in their studies.

About Me

For the last six years, I have been an ESL teacher at an Charter School in Dallas, Texas. I received my Master's in Education at Dallas Theological Seminary in 2014. In 2008, I earned my Bachelor's in History at the University of Texas at Dallas. In each degree program, I received honors. For me, teaching is more than a job, it is a calling and I take what I do very seriously.

Experience

I have taught at the Elementary school level for six years. During those years, I have led tutoring groups for students from 3rd to 5th Grade. The subjects that were covered in these sessions consisted in reading comprehension and writing mechanics. In addition to after school tutoring, my occupation's focus has been in assisting small groups. Specifically, helping them with their grasp of English.

Approach

Throughout my years as a teacher, I have learned some techniques that would better facilitate learning for a student. One of those methods is a strategy known as "Whole Brain Teacher." The method consists of total body movement where each movement represents a certain concept that is being discussed. My purpose for teaching such strategies is not to give them the answers. Instead, they are designed to equip the students with the tools that they need to find the concepts themselves.

AP History Tutoring

My Undergraduate Degree was focused in History. Furthermore, my teaching certification includes all forms of History up to the High School level.

Government Tutoring

I am certified to teach Social Studies at the Middle School level. However, this certification, plus personal background study of the subject allows me to have a firm grasp of the topic, which included classwork while in College.

After modeling the technique, I allow the student to use the method and apply it to their assignment.
