Fun Facts
It doesn't take people long after meeting me to know that I am passionate about history! If you give me an opening, I will try to sneak in Thomas Jefferson into any conversation! I also am a classically trained Pianist, and won a scholarship for it in college.
About Me
I graduated from The University of North Texas in 2014, and currently live in Washington DC. I will begin a Masters in Teaching program this summer to earn my teaching certificate. My ultimate goal is to become a History Teacher.
Experience
All throughout college, I worked as a Supplemental Instruction Leader. I was essentially a small group leader, and would hold weekly sessions over the content of the material. Students who regularly came to my sessions saw an increase in their grade by 1/2 a letter grade. I also give tours to tourists who visit my city, constantly perfecting my communication skills and learning different and better ways to get the information across in a fun way!
Approach
My main approach is to make the information personal to the student. If they are able to relate a subject to their lives, they are more likely to be interested and to understand the importance. I also make sure to ask lots of questions and to check for understanding to make sure the students truly understand the topic.

I majored in History while in college, and made a 3.8 in my major field. At the same time, I worked as a small group leader for Freshman US History. Students who attended my sessions regularly would see an increase in their grade by at least half a letter grade.
Political Science Tutoring
I minored in Political Science while in college. Immediately after, I moved to Washington DC to work on Capitol Hill. Not only did I excel scholastically at the subject, I have the real world experience that will help me to relate the subject to a future student.
Writing Tutoring
My undergraduate Thesis was 25 pages long. As an undergrad, that was a large feat. It taught me how to look for the important details, and I currently help peer review and critique college level writing.

Music Theory is a very important to understanding how music works. I am a classically trained Pianist, but a large factor of my success was due to understanding Theory. While in school, I had to take Theory tests bi-annually, and the performers had to make above a 90 to still be qualified for competitions. I was able to pass all my theory tests, and I can help you to do the same!
Study Skills Tutoring
I have heard several people complain that they never had to study in High School, and didn't know what to do while in college. I have learned how to recognize each learning style, and what the best study method might be for them. As someone who has had to study all their lives, I will help you to prioritize studying so that you can excel in college.
Music History Tutoring
History is important because it teaches us about the past and how we got to where we are today. Music history plays the same role. Almost everyone is affected by music today, and it is important to understand what events shaped music to how it is.
Piano Tutoring
I am a classically trained pianist and have been playing since I was 8 years old. Music is such an important part of my life, and love to share it with others. While in school, I would give piano lessons and performed in competitions throughout the state of Texas.
