Fun Facts
Although my studies take up most of my time nowadays, I have been a percussionist for almost 10 years, and I still love to play the drums. I also spent my middle-to-high school years heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America, where I earned the rank of Eagle Scout. When the Texas heat allows, I like to go outside and play disc golf with my friends or go geocaching.
About Me
This fall I will be entering my second year at Trinity University in San Antonio, where I have maintained a consistent GPA above 3.5. I am a Biology and Anthropology double major, and I hope to enter the field of Public Health policy. One of my career goals is to work for the Centers for Disease Control, after obtaining my masters in Public Health.
Experience
In 2015 and 2016 I worked at a local Tutoring Center, where I worked with students grades K-12 after school and learned which tutoring methods were most effective and beneficial for the students. This job allowed me to gain experience interacting with students of all ages and understanding how they learn best. My time in Boy Scouts also gave me leadership and communication skills useful for effectively conveying information to other people in a manner educational to us both.
Approach
My teaching method relies on flexibility to adjust to the student's unique learning style. Everyone learns differently, so I remain very patient with my students and explain topics in different ways to maximize understanding. I also believe that it is easiest to learn when you enjoy learning, so I maintain a lighthearted (but focused) attitude while tutoring. Lastly, I like to focus on comprehension rather than memorization, so that students can understand topics and work independently.

I have taken upper-level Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 in middle/high school (in which I earned "A"s), as well as geometry, precalculus/trigonometry, calculus (high school and college level), and statistics. Additionally, I took AP physics courses in high school, which required application of my algebra skills. I have had experience tutoring all levels of math K-12 at a tutoring center, and am familiar with local curricula.

I have experience tutoring K-12 English in tutoring centers, and I have college writing experience that allows me to have comprehensive mastery of English techniques.

I have experience working with students K-12 at a tutoring center. Much of this work focused on helping students understand and complete their homework. I have experience explaining concepts to students in a clear and helpful manner, making sure they comprehend the problems and the skills they need to solve them.
