Fun Facts

I have two younger siblings in high school named Paul and Mary and a sweet puppy named Allie. I love to bake and I think that cookies help the brain work.

About Me

I went to a very academically challenging high school in Dallas, Texas where I participated in many activities including Youth and Government (mock legislative), Choir/Theater (I am a classically trained soloist and musical theater performer), Girl Talk (a mentoring program for Middle School girls), and community service organizations. I am a Freshman at the University of Southern California as an English major looking to add a Political Science minor. I am also a member of Delta Gamma fraternity and the club field hockey team. I worked at Dancing Angels Studio in Dallas where I served as an assistant to the owner in a managerial capacity and as an assistant dance teacher during my senior year, and during the summer I worked as an intern at an intellectual property law firm assisting the paralegals.

I have tutored with both National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. With National Honor Society, I worked with two or three students a week on many topics including math, study habits, writing, and science. With Mu Alpha Theta, I worked with one girl in geometry on a regular basis to help her understand concepts in a more creative way. My friends studying at different universities also call me frequently for help with essays. :)

Every student is capable of learning, but every child has a different way of learning. I have used methods varying from drawings to physical demonstrations to writing silly anagrams to help students learn. In addition, my younger sister has severe ADHD, so working with her has given me a unique perspective on patience. It also has allowed me to work successfully with other ADD/ADHD/dyslexic children. I am always extremely positive and cheerful, knowing all too well from my work as a mentor for Middle School girls that smiles can be the key to unlocking all sorts of amazing potential in people. Most importantly, I try and make all the students I tutor feel as though they are perfectly capable of success.
