Fun Facts
I love books on CD. I love art but I don't have time for it. I look forward to traveling a lot more in the future.
About Me
I am a doctoral candidate in History.
Experience
I have taught college level classes in U.S. History (Ethnic Studies perspectives) and Ancient Mexico. My specialization is Latina/o History in the United States, Feminist History in Mexico, Latin America, U.S. History, Women and Gender History.
I currently work as a Teaching Assistant for an elementary school. Focus is Phonics and Reading Interventions for kinder-2nd grade. I also assist 4th and 5th grade.
Approach
I would have been considered a low performing student by today's and past standards; however, here I am getting a PhD. Given my current work experience I feel that almost all students need a helping hand. I think most students have many talents and sometimes the current educational model does not know how to embrace this. We are tested only on reading (English) and Math and that defines a lot of children. But everyone can learn at different paces.
