Fun Facts
Science has always fascinated me. From a young age I knew I wanted to learn all I could about biology and ecology, and I have lived my life pursuing my passions across the globe. I have studied abroad in Australia, Brazil, and Peru, where I lived in the rainforest for eight month. I have two younger sisters, and i enjoy drawing, writing, reading, playing guitar, swing dancing, board games, and I perform comedy improv to unwind after work.
About Me
I currently work for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, where I can pursue one of my great passions: nature preservation. I also love teaching, and I jumped at the opportunity to exercise my masters degree in a tutoring position. I have experience with teaching science from the middle school to the graduate school level, and I delight in helping students learn their unique strengths and gain confidence that will carry into their adult lives.
Experience
At Austin College, I tutored general biology, anatomy and physiology, cellular biology, and general chemistry. In graduate school at Colorado State University, I participated in two extracurricular teaching programs: ENVIRONMENTORS, where I helped students from underrepresented backgrounds in the science fields to design and implement a scientific experiment, and I coached the Science Olympiad Forestry team for Preston Middle School. On a graduate level, I was a teaching assistant for two years.
Approach
I was diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, and I know the embarrassment and struggle of needing additional time and energy to master subjects. I have a number of tips and tricks that I continue to use to this day to help me overcome my dyslexia. as a tutor I strive to help my students learn not just the material that will be covered on the test, but also to develop a well rounded ability to engage in thoughtful discussions. I push myself to develop creative and unique teaching techniques.

After completing my Anatomy and Physiology course in college, I was asked to work as a laboratory teaching assistant for the subject. I was a TA for two years, and helped students with both course work and hands on laboratory practices. In addition I was tasked with grading tests.

I received mostly A's with some B's.
