Fun Facts

I am an avid hiker. My first backpacking trip was at two months old in the back of my dads backpack and I've been hooked every since! In fact, I just completed my first long distance through hike, doing 3 weeks and 236 on the John Muir Trail this August!

About Me

I am a senior at the washington">University of Washington working towards my undergraduate degree in Biology. I am also passionate about the french language, I studied abroad in Montpellier, France last year, and hope to compete my minor in French Studies as well. Looking to the future, I plan to attend a doctorate program in Physical Therapy.

I was a nanny and washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutor for two children ages 7 and 10. This included an hour each of reading/comprehension, math, and science each day. I also have extensive knowledge working in groups and explaining key concepts from my own studies in the fields of Biology and French.

The core of my washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutoring style revolves around providing a positive atmosphere, engaging the student, and asking leading questions to bring the student to a more complete understanding of key concepts. In my opinion there is no room for negativity in a learning environment, if the student is struggling with a concept that simply means we need to take a step back as a team and find a different way of looking at the problem. Furthermore, I have found that students learn best when interested in the material. For this reason I try to relate what we are learning back to things the student can understand, and is interested in. Lastly, by using leading questions instead of telling students the answers I feel the child leaves the session with a more complex and thorough understanding of the subject
