Fun Facts

I love biology and everything medical related. I plan on going to medical school after graduation. Outside school, I also work as a swim coach and lifeguard, having swam competitively for 10 years. I love to draw, and the 24 pack of Sharpies is a standard part of my yearly school shopping. In the dorms, I painted (with permission) a ten foot tall mural of the house from "Up" in the lounge.

About Me

I am a junior in the Honors Program at the washington">University of Washington. I am double majoring in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, and Biochemistry. My GPA is a 3.84. I plan on going to medical school after graduation. At the UW, I am an officer of MEDIC, the medical ethics discussion club, and lifeguard at the IMA pool. I have been on the Dean's List every quarter so far.

I regularly tutored my peers in high school, especially in calculus and biology. At the UW, I led my study group in weekly biology and organic chemistry study sessions. I love teaching biology.

My favorite method of teaching and learning is using large whiteboards to visualize and connect concepts. This allows students to see the big picture, but also understand where the details fit in. This is especially useful in biology and organic chemistry, which have a large visual component. The best way to learn is to teach, so I have my students explain back to me what we are studying, and frequently ask questions. I believe that if a student doesn't understand, it is the teacher's responsibility to come up with a way of explaining that clicks.
