Fun Facts

We people first get to know me, they quickly learn that I love hockey! Although I do not play the sport, I have become a huge fan and religiously watch it. I was born and raised in California and decided move to Minnesota to attend University and experience a place I had never been before. So far it has been great, but the winters are definitely a bit more chilly!

About Me

I am a senior and currently studying history at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities. I transferred to Minnesota last fall after earning my Associates Degree in History at De Anza College, where I was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Academic Honor Society. After I graduate, I hope to take my education further and earn my Masters in Teaching. My ultimate goal is become a middle school or high school history teacher.

Experience

Throughout high school I participated in a tutoring and mentoring program for elementary school students. The program focused on math and english and we met with the students each week. Currently, I am a study monitor at the McNamara Academic Center for Student Athletes at the University of Minnesota. In this position, I supervise student athletes to ensure a productive study environment.

Approach

When I was in elementary and middle school, I struggled with procrastination and putting in quality effort towards my assignments. After help from my parents and tutors, I learned important study skills that helped me understand the importance of education. As a tutor, I want students to know they have the potential to succeed in school. By helping students learn the importance of organization and study skills, I hope they will be able to further their abilities in school.
