About Me

I attended Davidson College (BA, English and Ethnic Studies) and UNC ­Charlotte (MA, English Language and Literature; Graduate Certificate, Africana Studies).

Experience

I specialize in 9-12 grade English but have had experiences teaching and tutoring primary school students in reading comprehension and graduate students in the writing process.

I am a highly qualified teacher in my state, with experience tutoring at the primary, secondary, and graduate levels. As a teacher, I have provided direct instruction in grammar, proofreading, writing, Literature, and English. As a teacher, I experienced student growth for two years.

Approach

I owe my love for teaching and literature to my mother who always told me that reading is a way to access the world. Since then, I have dedicated my life to assisting students in accessing parts of the world that would otherwise be out of reach for them. As a teacher, I have had success in helping students learn about the world we inhabit, not only building their knowledge of how to read literature, images, music, and people but also their understanding of the contexts they were created in.
