Being in a family of 7 where all my younger siblings were home-schooled with the help of my mom and I provided me with a love for kids
About Me
Currently, I am a sophomore student at portland-state-university">Portland State University majoring in Biology. Upon graduating, my interest lies in attaining a Physicians Assistant degree and commence employment at a pediatrics clinic. Coming from a large family instilled an eagerness to work with children in whichever way possible. My dream is to be a tool for positive impact towards children's lives.
Officially, I have served as a spanish portland">tutor for a length of 3 months with adults, which proved to be a worth while experience for myself (I was able to strengthen my teaching skills). However, the most valuable portland">tutoring experience that I've had was with my siblings. Ranging from 3 to 12 years old, I learned that each child and age group requires a technique for teaching. In addition, my patience, encouragement, and sympathy towards children is well established due to the experience I was blessed with at home. The subjects I aided in were religion, math, science, language arts, and history (english and history being my favorite of them all).
The portland">tutoring approach I’ve applied to my pupils is centered around four main principles; respect, devotion, hard work, and enjoyment. For children to maintain focus, I believe it is important to show patience and kindness to the fullest extent. Since the goal of portland">tutoring is to address a child’s struggles, it is crucial to make the child feel comfortable with the learning environment. Though comfort is critical, however, too much comfort can become hazardous in a portland">tutor and pupil relationship. At this point, it is important to enforce respect and a sense of devotion. By maintaining checkpoints and standards, the child maintains knowledge of what is expected of them.
