Fun Facts

I enjoy outdoor activities like fishing and hiking, and am usually open to anything and am pretty spontaneous (I like skydiving too). I try to go to any concerts that I can as well. My passions are cooking, doing physics and math, and sometimes I play my keyboard too.

About Me

I am an engineering tech for Noble Energy (oil and gas company). I help determine whether we should plug and abandon oil and gas wells, or fix them, for the most part. I have a degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Physics. However, thinking of a career change and going back to school to do Physics research (masters or Ph. D), but this is a long term goal in the works for next year. I have to admit that I need to go back to school in order to get where I want to be in life.

Experience

At my work, I have helped 6 people learn my role and have taught them how to do their roles in the job (2 interns, 4 techs). I like trying to improve the processes at my work and try to challenge myself so I can learn more.

I have tutored middle school kids, people at college and work, and am willing to help my friends and family for free. I really like teaching people, even though a lot of it is self taught and I still need to work on it.

Approach

My approach is to be encouraging as possible, and also ensure that they understand the concept, rather than just know it. I have to admit that this isn't as easy as it sounds sometimes, so I try to explain concepts in different ways so that it sticks.I think that students are very hard on themselves and lose a lot of confidence, so I feel it's important to support them no matter what (even it if's inconvenient for me).

Calculus I Tutoring

I have a solid understanding of Calculus I; I took it in high school and have repeated it countless times throughout college and my career.

Calculus 2 Tutoring

I took Calculus II in high school and still use it repeatedly throughout my career and studies; series are especially important.

Calculus 3 Tutoring

I took Calculus III and got an A; It's been a little while for me, but I'm confident I can help because I can always review it quickly. Divergence, curl, triple integrals, etc. were important in studying fluid dynamics for my degree.

Elementary Statistics Tutoring

I took engineering statistics in college and got an A; I have good knowledge on how to use it in my work as well. It's important to be able to use statistics in order to predict or analyze costs, production, etc. for work.
