About Me
I am twenty years old and I am an Honors student at the miami">University of Miami. I am a sophomore and a Biology major along with a Chemistry minor and an Art minor. I am on the pre-med track and very focused on becoming a great doctor. I am originally from Brazil and moved to South Florida when I was 4 years old. My family came here to escape poverty and take advantages of the many opportunities this wonderful country has to offer.
I have been miami">tutoring since I was 13 years old and have tutored a lot of different people allowing me to form the skills necessary to teach a variety of students effectively. From 13 to 18 I tutored as part of the Junior National Honor Society and then as part of the National Honor Society. During that same time I ran my own private miami">tutoring from my home as there were many students who needed extra help after school or on the weekends. This went very well as I would be able to thoroughly miami">tutor students at the times they wanted and their parents would just drop them off at my home. I really enjoyed those miami">tutoring years and it always made me happy to see students who were previously failing begin to succeed and understand everything that they previously thought was impossible to comprehend.
My method is simple and yet, I believe, effective. I start off by having the students try to explain to me or solve a problem while I listen or watch. This is an important step for me because it allows me to see how they think and understand their unique mental processes. Once I know how a student thinks I can see where they are going wrong or what exactly it is that they don't understand. From there I go over problems step by step explaining everything and being as thorough as possible and making sure the student understand exactly what i'm doing. From there I address any questions and give extra hints and tips on how to solve specific problems. Sometimes there are clues in a problem that will steer you in the right way before you even begin to solve it.
