I like to sing and play the guitar because it brings peace to my heart. I also paint when I have free time on my hands. I love to cook and share the food with friends and family because it makes me happy.

About Me

My name is Sohee Shin and I am currently a sophomore at New York University with a major in Nursing. After graduation, I plan to take the NCLEX and get my RN license. After working for a year or so, I want to go back to New York University to get my masters degree and then go to maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University for my PhD. I would like to go to mission trips as well with my church and help to heal sick children around the world.

In the past, I tutored a wide range of students. i tutored a 5 year old, a middle schooler, and a high schooler. It was interesting in seeing how they reacted to the material they needed to learn. A common thing I realized was how as time goes by their motivation to learn more exponentially drops. It is definitely hard to keep them constantly engaged, but I was able to continue to encourage and try to motivate them to finish. But I also had a lot of fun teaching and seeing how they were able to apply what they learn to different parts of their life. I felt proud of my students when they got a problem right.

For me, it really depends on the grade level because the maturity level increases as the grades get higher. Since the older kids, such as high schoolers, know the consequences of not doing their homework. It is a lot easier to encourage and keep them engaged in studying. However, for the little ones, I definitely do not push to their limit or pressure them to finish anything. Otherwise, it's a lot easier for them to get angry and be not motivated at all for the next session. I try to stay enthusiastic and help them engage into the material more instead.
