Fun Facts

I'm a New Yorker at heart but love the culture and life in New Orleans. I'm a music fanatic and play drums in a few bands, but my main focus is academics. I hope to attend medical school after graduation and am a certified EMT. I have spent a good amount of time traveling in Peru and Spain and love the Spanish language. I'm also the biggest NY Mets fan in the world.

About Me

I'm a senior Biology major at Tulane University, with a minor in Spanish Language. I'm in the Honors Program, play drums in the jazz department, and volunteer in an ecology laboratory on campus. I want to attend medical school or PA school after graduation.
I'm very friendly, outgoing, and personable. I love quality time with friends and family, and in my free time enjoy playing music with my band. I am also an avid reader and love to exercise.

Experience

I've never tutored before, but was a one-to-one aid to a learning disabled 6 year old boy at a summer camp a year ago. Every morning we practiced basic reading and math for two hours, which required a lot of patience and positive reinforcement. It wasn't easy, but he made a lot of progress by the end of the camp; his parents even asked if I could tutor him during the school year. Overall it was a rewarding experience and I have wanted to try more tutoring ever since.

Approach

I had tutoring once in my Freshman year of high school for Honors Chemistry, and it brought my grade from a C to an A-. My tutor immediately identified my weaknesses, and gradually explained and drilled these difficult topics until I felt comfortable with them. He brought along materials from his chemistry classes to help, and consistently provided positive reinforcement. He fostered my confidence in the subject so that I could succeed; I plan to tutor just as he did.
