Fun Facts

One of the biggest goals I would like to accomplish in my lifetime is to run a marathon, and eventually run an ultra marathon. A hip injury last spring set my training back several months. Fortunately, I am completely healed and almost ready to compete in a half marathon in Las Vegas this coming December. I love to run!

About Me

I am a Colorado native however I graduated from TCU in 2002 with a B.S. in Education. While in school, I was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society and the Texas Student Education Association. I currently work as an intern for a non-profit art therapy practice and I am studying for the GRE in order to pursue graduate work at UNT. My career goals are to become a counselor and to work with children and adults that have endured physical and psychological trauma.

Throughout college I worked as a paraprofessional in a resource classroom tutoring students. I also worked as an assistant teacher at a private school educating children with special needs. During my last semester of college, I completed my student teaching internship in a second grade class and passed the teacher certification exam needed to obtain my license. Immediately upon graduation I began to teach first grade and eventually transitioned into second grade at a local elementary school.

My tutoring approach is to personalize sessions to meet the needs of each individual student. No child learns the same way which is why no tutor should tutor the same way! I believe that curriculum needs to be presented in a variety of ways and when combined with positive reinforcement the student will attain the confidence needed to become successful in academics.
