Fun Facts

Along with my teaching career, I serve the National Guard and perform professionally on clarinet in the 234th Army Band. I like spending time camping, hiking, and canoeing. I grew up in Las Vegas, and I absolutely love living in beautiful Oregon. What I enjoy most about teaching is helping students grow by teaching them learning strategies so they can improve their current learning goals.

About Me

I graduated from the University of Nevada in Reno in 2009. Since then, I substitute taught full time at several school districts in the Willamette Valley, which helped me grow as a classroom teacher along with better understanding student learning and comprehension. Initially I wanted to teach music, but the competitive culture in teaching has motivated me to grow as a math teacher.

I maintained a clarinet and saxophone studio for three years. As a substitute teacher, I often readily took advantage to help student in their current learning goals and objectives. I taught at Pine Eagle Charter School in Halfway, Oregon general music for grades k-4, beginning band, intermediate band, high school band, high school choir, algebra 1, and yearbook.

As a student in high school, I was motivated by learning music and enjoyed it's application of math. I got through challenging math courses, but needed help in Calculus. I had a great Calculus teacher that tutored me through the course. She inspired me to become a teacher and to enjoy the learning process. I focus on an Inquiry based method that is centered on constructionist ideas. I focus on the immediate objectives while at the same time building on learning techniques the students can develop.
