Fun Facts

I was born in Arkansas but raised in Petaluma, California! I moved to Portland, Oregon for school 2 years ago and consider it my new home. I love to cook and try out new recipes and ingredients. I also enjoy hiking, which is a great pastime to have here in the beautiful Pacific North West (when it's not raining)!

About Me

I am a Psychology and Spanish double major with a minor in Chemistry at the portland">University of Portland. My goal after graduating is to enter research combining Chemistry and Psychology, or go to graduate school. I work on campus as an Organic Chemistry Lab Assistant and as a supervisor at our call center.

Experience

Throughout high school I worked as a tutor for a special needs student whose native language is Farsi. I worked with her on reading, writing, math, conversational English, and Spanish. Freshman year of college I volunteered at a local elementary school reading with kindergarteners. Currently I work as an Organic Chemistry Lab Assistant, which requires that I stay updated on my Chemistry knowledge in order to help students in lab.

Approach

Throughout my school experience I have had a passion for learning, which I enjoy sharing with others. My approach is to give students the support and help they need to think critically and learn concepts in a way that makes sense to them. The best teachers and professors I've had in my career are those who are positive and who don't always give the answers to students, but provide students with the tools they need to find the answers themselves. I will aim to take a similar approach.
