Fun Facts
I am on the Cross Country and Track & Field team at Seattle University and have recently been named the captain. I LOVE to run, but my first love was gymnastics. To replace gymnastics I took up swing dancing and I go to century ballroom about once per quarter to partake! It's so fun to go with a group of friends!
About Me
I am a senior Biology major at Seattle University. I have maintained a over a 3.5 cumulative GPA during my time at SU. When I graduate I hope to go to graduate school to become a physicians assistant or a genetic counselor.
Experience
During high school I tutored a student with health issues that caused him to be a little behind in school compared to his classmates. I helped to improve his algebra skills to help him pass the End-of-Course Exam at the end of the year. I also have a mother who taught middle school math for over 30 years, and I feel as though I learned a lot through watching her teaching skills about how to help students learn.
Approach
I am the type of learner that can't just memorize stuff, I need to understand the "why" in order to fully grasp any concept. I believe that this sort of approach is good for all students because it encourages long term retention of information. Therefore I will engage students in a positive non-judgmental environment to understand the deeper concepts so that they maybe more successful in the classroom.
