Fun Facts
I have been playing guitar for the past 12 years and have a band that consistently puts out music. Although this is just a hobby, and not what I do professionally, it is a great way to unwind and take a break from school work.
About Me
I am a Masters level student at Fordham University studying Mental Health Counseling. I studied psychology at Pace University, and was on the Dean's list for most of my time there. After finishing at Fordham in 2019, I will have the skills necessary to be a practicing therapist.
Experience
For a year, I volunteered in South Florida in an AmeriCorps program tutoring and mentoring at-risk youth in reading, writing, fluency, and life skills. I have much experience working with students at various levels of ability and very much enjoy the process! Also, I have received several awards in high school and college in regards to exemplary writing.
Approach
My approach is one of kindness and understanding. Whenever I had a question in the classroom, it always gave much much reassurance and encouragement when a teacher respectfully and kindly answered me, along with helping me with whatever I was confused with. I strive for acting this way 100% of the time while tutoring. If a student is already struggling, they wouldn't want the bad attitude of a tutor or teacher to further frustrate them.
