Fun Facts

I am an outgoing and enthusiastic individual who loves baking, volunteering, the Hunger Games and the Harry Potter series. My favorite season is fall because of the perfect weather, pumpkin spice lattes and the beautiful changing colors of the leaves. I believe learning something new every day keeps you young, active and happy.

About Me

I graduated from Hunter College in May 2013 with a Bachelor's of Arts. My major was psychology and my major GPA was 3.8. I was a public service scholar from September 2012 to May 2013 and on the Dean's List. I established a Project Sunshine Chapter at my college and was the President of the club for two years. My future plans include working for a few years before I pursue my master's degree in public health and work to implement international health care initiatives.

I have tutored children from ages 5-15 in a variety of subjects. I was a teacher at Kumon for a year from September 2008-June 2009, where I tutored children from elementary school to high school in reading-comprehension/new-york/queens">reading comprehension, writing and math. I was also a volunteer at Reading Partners, a nonprofit organization which partners up children with a queens">tutor at their schools. I created lesson plans and improved literacy rates in elementary school aged children by targeting a specific reading-comprehension/new-york/queens">reading comprehension and writing challenge in the weekly sessions.I have worked with children my entire life through volunteering, queens">tutoring and as a summer camp counselor as the assistant teacher in educational classes ranging in a variety of subjects. this includes reading, writing, science, math and computer skills.

My queens">tutoring approach includes using a variety of tactics to analyze the situation and solve the problem, whether its a difficult math question or a confusing reading problem. Everyone learns differently. Therefore, being patient, open-minded and utilizing different techniques including visualization of concepts is the best way to teach without aggravating the student even further. There are many tools available to make the process easier and I have found using funny examples, online tools and practicing the same concepts in a variety of ways has always yielded positive results.
