Fun Facts

One thing about me is that I am passionate about my family! I am one of five siblings, and we are all super close, although not close in age. One of mt favorite activities is anything involving the beach and the ocean! If I could spend all my time in California, I would!

About Me

I am a junior/senior at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, where I am studying to be a secondary high school English teacher! I have been on the Dean's List for three years, and the President's List for one! I am so excited to graduate and teach middle or high school!

Experience

As an Education and English Major, I have been trained to teach and assist students in reaching their full potential. I have experience in the classroom, and even more experience tutoring at my school. I generally tutor students in all levels of college, within all different areas of study. Working for Frog Tutoring is a great opportunity to reach so many other students and make an impact!

Approach

Through my education, I have learned so many ways to effectively teach and tutor content, and differentiate based on the needs of each student. I am passionate about seeing students succeed, and hope to see other students reach their full potential. In each sessions, I will focus on the positives for each student, and build knowledge in an encouraging manner.

English Tutoring

Throughout my college experience, I have taken countless English courses which include English Composition 1 and 2 (Grades: A) , Writing for the 21st Century Workplace (Grade: A), Multicultural Literature (Grade: A), American Encounter Narratives (Grade: A), Young Adult Literature (Grade: A), British Literature (B), Transatlantic Literature (Grade: A). I have also taken many courses that had a heavy focus on reading and writing such as history classes and communication classes. I have tutored many of my peers and students in lower grades in each of these classes.

Education Tutoring

In my major of Secondary Education, I have taken numerous courses that focus on Education and the philosophy behind it. These courses include Social Justice for Educators (Grade: B+), Methods for Teaching Writing, Grammar, and Linguistics for Secondary Education (Grade: A), Literacy for Secondary Education (Grade: A), English Language Teaching (Grade: A), Middle and Secondary Curriculum and Assessment (Grade: A), and Methods for Teaching Literature for Secondary Education (Grade: A). Also in my major, I have spent countless hours in the classroom observing and participating in the daily functions of the classroom.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

Courses in my major that correlate to Reading Comprehension through heavy reading are many, and they include Arizona and Federal Government (Grade: B), Adolescent Psychology (Grade: A), British Literature (Grade: B), Transatlantic Literature (Grade: A), and other history and education courses. I have tutored many students in all of the above subjects, as well as any other classes that involve reading.

Study Skills Tutoring

Every course in any major will require strong study skills, whether it be studying for a test, essay, presentation, or any other form of assessment. Through success in my courses, I have learned the ins and outs of having strong study skills. I have tutored numerous peers in finding what works best for them.

Writing Tutoring

Every class I have ever taken at the college level has included a heavy amount of writing. Some of these courses include English Composition 1 and 2 (Grades: A), Transatlantic Literature (Grade: A), Communicating Scientific Ideas to Popular Audiences (Grade: A), Arizona and Federal Government (Grade: A), Adolescent Psychology (Grade: A), Writing for the 21st Century Workplace (Grade: A), American Encounter Narratives (Grade: A), among countless others. I am constantly tutoring in Writing, and I pride myself in breaking up the task into doable parts so that the student is not overwhelmed.
