Fun Facts

I am a hopeful medical student that loves to teach others in areas in which I am deeply passionate, such as science and medicine. I have played baseball all of my life and I also played trumpet and french horn all the way up until college. When I am not teaching and learning, I love to exercise at the gym in order to relax and pump myself up for the day ahead. I also travel to Phoenix every Sunday and play baseball with my friends.

About Me

I recently graduated from the University of Arizona in May 2013. I majored in ecology and evolutionary biology with a focus on biomedical sciences as well as a minor in chemistry. My junior year, I was honored to be inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
I received a 4.0 GPA throughout my college career. Since graduating, I have been shadowing doctors, volunteering in Central America, and reading books that teach me about the subtle workings of hospitals. My dream is to become a pathologist upon graduating from medical school.

I was able to be a tucson">tutor for biology during my sophomore year in college. I taught fellow students about introductory microbiology as well as how to understand the basic concepts during the lectures. In addition, I attended a seminar every week in which fellow tucson">tutors and I discussed potential strategies we could implement in order to improve the tucson">tutoring experience for students. I was also frequently asked by friends to tucson">tutor them throughout college, specifically in science courses. These experiences showed me that I have a deep passion for helping others learn.

I have learned that students respond well to learning when the material is presented to them in a way that is similar to their unique learning style. As a result, no two students should ever be taught in the same manner. Many students respond to visual learning through graphs and tables, while others are tactile learners and require models that they can manually observe. Before teaching any student, I make it a priority to understand how they approach material, and then I can incorporate their learning style into my teaching lesson. This not only provides me with multiple ways to express a concept, but also ensures that the student is able to understand the material in a way that is familiar and comfortable to them.
