Fun Facts
One passion people quickly learn about me is that I LOVE listening to music and watching sports! I'm pretty active and love to have fun, so music and sports are the perfect fit into my lifestyle and routine. I am the oldest of 3 and also a parent of two young boys. Although I'm horrible at it, I enjoy cooking (and eating). I am a grown-up but do my best to stay young and live life to the fullest.
About Me
I run a leadership organization for high school girls. I founded the organization while teaching high school and middle school English and LA for many years. My lane is in building young people and creating opportunities for them to be successful. My education provided the platform for me to pursue this purpose; I have a B.S. in Psychology and a B.Ed in English/Secondary Education. My Masters is in Secondary Ed/Curriculum Development. I was also captain of my university's basketball team.
Experience
With 7+ years in the classroom teaching English and ELA, as well as informal, formal, and standardized test prep, along with a combined 12+ years creating opportunities for young people to lead and be successful, I have experience developing strategies that help children and young adults get on track and feel good about their grades and studies. Tutoring is another way for me to connect with kids and families who need help so they can move forward educated and empowered!
Approach
Education, in my opinion, is metaphorical muscle in our society. It requires training, proper instruction, and nourishment. I was fortunate to have teachers who made an impact in my life for making sure I understood the material when I was struggling through it. Without those spotters, so to speak, I never would have developed intelligence muscles that gave me the confidence to flex. I want to be that person who pushes young people to work harder, get stronger, and eventually pull up others.
